3 Weeks later

I’m cleaning, and I mean deep, deep cleaning. Luke’s parents, and his sister, Savannah, will be here tomorrow, and I’m only mildly panicking.

Luke has more or less moved in with me, since his stuff is everywhere. He moved another desk into my office area, and his clothes are in my dresser and closet.

I love it. Seriously, who knew living with a guy would be so much fun? Steven’s helping me out, because when it comes to cleaning, he’s the master.

The tunes are rocking, and I check the typed checklist that Steven made for me.

“You know, Ali, with the sheer amount of used condoms in the trash and multitude of wrappers in this house, you’d think that the two of you were unable to walk.”

“Jealous?”

“Hell no, I’m in your boat. Roger’s been voracious lately. I think there’s something in the water because Lucy and Paul have been playing the Naughty Dez and Lucille routine like it could go out of style.”

“I heard that Bruce and his wife got a noise complaint on them the other day. Parker refuses to talk about it, said there isn’t enough bleach to clean that image from his mind.”

I’m freaking wiping down the damn baseboards, and not at all happy about it when we hear a quiet knock on the door.

I look up at Steven as he heads to the door. When he opens it I gasp, running to Amy. She’s filthy, and crouched down on the porch.

“Oh my God, Amy. Are you okay?”

“I just…I just need to use your shower again, and he startled me.”

“This is Steven, and he’s harmless to everything except dust. He’s helping me clean the house. Luke’s parents are coming for a visit, and I apparently need to “deep clean.”

She slides past me and heads to the bathroom. Going over to the hall closet, I grab the stuff I put away for her if she came again.

I hand her the bag, and she looks at me weird. “There are all kinds of toiletry items, clothes and stuff for you. I figured you could leave it here for next time, that way you have your own stuff to use. Those are clothes that don’t fit me anymore, so you’re welcome to them if you want them.”

The tears that fall make white lines down her dirt covered cheeks. “Thank you.”

She closes the door to the bathroom, and Steven stands there, looking kind of sad and lost.

“It’s hard to think that we have someone who lives here, yet lives in squaller.”

“I know. I just try and have stuff here for her when she needs it. I have a basket full of things for her to take with her too if she wants it.”

“Okay. If she does, then I’ll go this time and fill up a basket for when she comes again.”

We go back to cleaning, and about ten minutes later, there’s another knock on the door. This time it’s Parker. Just as I open the door, Amy walks out in fresh clothes, clean and free of dirt.
